The Torture Museum houses over 60 instruments of torture walking through the spaces you will find gruesome objects such as the Virgin of Nuremberg, the rack, the Catalan garrote and many other tools used to torture or kill heretics, witches and subversives.Įach instrument is accompanied by medieval-style comics that illustrate its use, as well as detailed explanations on its operation in eight different languages. Arguably the most famous medieval torture device, the rack was a wooden bench with wrist and ankle straps.
